Just Ask

“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive , and your joy will be complete.” -John 16:24

You’ll never get unless you ask. There’s no harm in asking. Go in for the ask.

It would be silly to simplify all prayer and communication with God down to asking for things in his name. Obviously, prayer is much more diverse. However, I wonder how much we miss out on in our relationship with God, simply because we’re too afraid, too doubtful, or too lazy to ask.

The verse here doesn’t say, ask and you will receive exactly what you asked for every time. But rather, it says that whenever you ask something of God, you will receive something in return. It may not be what you asked for, but it will be something that will move your heart closer to him and you joy closer to completion.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, I thank you that you are attentive to the requests and cries of your people. I ask Lord, today for what is on my heart. I ask for it in your name, knowing that while your response may be something different than I expected, that what you give will draw me closer to you.
