Opportunities For Good

“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” -Galatians 6:10

Why do we do good? Do we serve others because our church is having a Saturday Serve day? Do we pray for our friends because the bible says so? Do we give to the church out of guilt? Do we feed the hungry to feed our own reputation? Do we obey God because we want to get into heaven someday?

Why do we do good? Paul says it should simply be because we have the opportunity. Whenever there is an opportunity to serve, the love, or to care for someone, Christians ought to be the first ones to grab hold of it. We ought to be the first responders to every crisis whether it be national, regional, or personal, because we are driven by a love for God and a love for his people.

The opportunities to do good for others are all around us. The thing about opportunity though, is that is ceases to mean anything if it is not seized. Today, make a choice to cling on to every opportunity presented you to do good to others and to God.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank you that you continually entrust me with opportunities for good. I pray that you would give me the courage today to grab hold of every opportunity, and to not let go until your goodness has been brought forth.
